According to British outlet TEAMtalk, Manchester City are willing to break the world transfer record for a full-back this summer in a determined bid to sign Newcastle United right-back Tino Livramento.

City attempted to sign Livramento last summer, but Newcastle worked hard to persuade the defender to commit to a new contract. However, the two parties have yet to reach an agreement on an extension, although his current deal runs until the summer of 2028. While Livramento has not requested a move this summer, City believe he would be interested in playing at the Etihad Stadium.

Since Kyle Walker’s departure, the right-back position has been a persistent issue for City, and Livramento is viewed as the ideal solution. As a result, the club are prepared to pay a premium for his services. Sources indicate that if Livramento is to leave, Newcastle will demand a transfer fee of £70 million.

The current world record fee for a full-back was set in 2021, when Paris Saint-Germain signed Achraf Hakimi from Inter Milan for £60 million. Meanwhile, the Premier League record for a full-back stands at £57 million, which Manchester City paid Juventus for João Cancelo. Should City complete the signing of Livramento for £70 million, they would set a new world transfer record for a full-back.
